物理治療是復康治療專業，服務層面廣泛。服務對象涵蓋各個年齡層，及不同病患患者。物理治療師的工作包括治療，預防和教育。
物理治療師會透過運動治療、電療和手法治療等，讓患者的肌肉得以強化、恢復正常的關節活動和減低痛楚，從而回復患者最大的身體機能運作，改善活動能力，讓患者的生活重回正軌。
物理治療師會透過評估患者的肌肉力度、關節活動的幅度、身體協調和平衡力等，為患者設計適當的治療計劃。另外，物理治療師會提供社區健康教育講座和外展物理治療服務，以減低患者再次入院的可能性。
職責
物理治療師是專職醫護人員，專門負責治療脊椎勞損、痛症、運動創傷、燒傷、四肢復康、腦神經系統復康等。而物理治療屬於非藥物治療，一般透過對人體進行不同的物理刺激來恢復身體機能。物理治療師的主要工作包括：
- 以電能、磁力、水力、冷凍、熱能等媒介進行臨床檢查及治療，並且診斷有關骨骼、肌肉及神經系統的疾病
- 運用不同的器材及療法進行復康保健，舒緩患者痛楚
- 配合應用生理、心理、病理和解剖科學，研發更適合痛症病人的治療方法

行業薪金參考 – 非政府機構一般職位薪酬 (以 2018 年 4 月 1 日之薪級表計算): 二級物理治療師的起薪點為 $28, 725 ( 薪級表第 14 點 )，而一級物理治療師的起薪點為 $48, 540 ( 薪級表第 25 點 )。最後，高級物理治療師的起薪點為 $70, 590 ( 薪級表第 34 點)

畢業後如何註冊
物理治療師管理委員會規定申請註冊人士，持有由物理治療監管機構認可的大專院校所頒授的物理治療基本學位。該學位必須經修讀不少於三年的全日制本科課程或不少於兩年的全日制研究生課程而取得，而有關課程大綱須經輔助醫療業管理局認可，當中包括至少 8 0 0 小時在督導下執行物理治療工作的臨床實習課。

In Canada, physiotherapy is a regulated profession. To work as a physiotherapist, you must register with the regulatory body in the province or territory where you work. It is illegal to practise if you are not licensed or registered.
Only registered physiotherapists are eligible to use the terms “physiotherapist”, “physical therapist” and the professional designation “PT”.
The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) evaluates educational credentials and administers exams for competency on behalf of most of the provincial and territorial regulators.
Each provincial and territorial regulator may also have additional requirements before you can practise. CAPR provides information to the regulators on credentials and qualifications, and the regulators decide who can and who cannot receive a licence to practise.
Physiotherapists must be registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, and meet the Board’s Registration Standards, in order to practise in Australia.

Physiotherapists are professionally qualified with either a Diploma in Physiotherapy (pre-1991), a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, or a qualification from overseas approved by the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand.
All physios practising in New Zealand are registered by the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand and hold an Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
Visit the Board’s website to find out all about registration. Allow several months for the registration process, from the time you have provided all the required documentation to the Physiotherapy Board.
To become a physio you will need to study a health science-based four-year degree from one of the three New Zealand schools offering physiotherapy.
